AMBASSADOR JILANI LODGES PROTEST OVER NATO/ISAF ATTACKS ON PAKISTAN BORDER POSTS

Brussels: 26 November 2011

Pakistan’s Ambassador to Belgium, European Union and Luxembourg Mr. Jalil Abbas Jilani  has lodged protest over NATO/ISAF helicopters’ attacks on two Pakistan Army border Posts in Mohamand agency on the night of 25/26 November 2011 at around 02:00 local time when the NATO/ISAF helicopters and fight aircraft from Afghanistan intruded about 1.5 miles into Pakistan territory and attacked two posts that resulted in martyrdom of at least 24 troops including two officers besides injuring 13 soldiers.

PIA help with flood relief

PIA helping with flood relief

PIA is pleased to offer freight free flood relief air cargo service to all those donors who are interested to help the victims of flood in Pakistan. PIA is currently operating three weekly flights from Schiphol Airport (twice to Islamabad on Tuesday & Friday) & once for Lahore on Wednesday).

The details of the offer are given below. Following Commodities will be given priority:

i. ‘Life Boxes’ having Ready to eat-Dry Food items, ideally packed in 15x15x12 inches boxes, for individual human consumptions. Details for these Life Boxes can also be viewed at www.piac.com.pk

ii. Life Saving Medicines/Medical Kits

iii. Tents & Sleeping Bags

Donors could also suggest any other suitable items which they deem fit for relief operations. Provision of same then can be discussed for permissibility considering their practical logistic arrangements. However PIA shall be constrained sending any used object such as clothing etc.

Following important points with regards to the logistics may always be kept in mind:

  • PIA shall accept shipments for Air Transportation, from/to its on-line operational points only. Shipments are to be delivered/collected by the shippers/consignees themselves from points of boarding/down loading respectively.
  • Shipments must only be addressed to the organizations which are registered with the government of Pakistan, such as NGOs, National or International Philanthropist Organizations, donor agencies, NDMA, Pakistan Army and PIA Emergency Response Centre.
  • Shippers shall undertake to assign PIA Emergency Response Centre as co-consignees for the shipments whereby PIA will be allowed to hand over these shipments to NDMA or Pakistan Army, if the shipments are not collected by the assignee within 72 hours of its arrival at destination.
  • Due to Security reasons and customs requirement single Airway Bill may not exceed the 1000 Kg bench mark.

Housing Scheme at I-16/3 Islamabad

HOUSING SCHEME FOR GENERAL PUBLIC INCLUDING OVERSEAS PAKISTAN AT I-16/3, ISLAMABAD

The Prime Minister of Pakistan has announced a massive programme for construction of affordable and low cost housing units for general public.

In pursuance of the Prime Minister’s directive, Pakistan Housing Authority (PHA)/ Ministry of Housing and Works has launched housing scheme in CDA developed sector at I-16/3, Islamabad for construction of multi storeyed apartments. The project details are also being displayed at website: www.pha.gov.pk.

Prime Minister has desired to include overseas Pakistanis in the housing schemes under the Prime Minister’s Housing Programme.

All Pakistan nationals are eligible to apply. The applicants shall deposit Rs.50,000/- as upfront payment with application form, the amount of which may be remitted to PHA through foreign designated branches of HBL/Samba Bank.

Brussels: September 12, 2011

The unprecedented rains in southern Pakistan have wreaked havoc with the lives of millions of people besides causing huge devastation to livestock and standing crops. Hundreds of people have lost their lives and over five million people have been displaced and directly affected by this natural disaster.

Over four million acres of land is under water; 2.5 million acres of crops have been destroyed; and over a million houses have been damaged or washed away.
The situation is deteriorating with forecast of more widespread rains in the area. A massive relief and rescue operation is being undertaken by government of Pakistan.
